What is necessary is never unwise.

It’s not the 20B 3 rotor, but it’s still going to be a head turner and a heck of a car!

the big gotcha would be parts availability, but if that is the same setup as the FD RX-7 then it might not actually be too bad.

It’s the less-fancy sequential turbo motor - the FD had the twin turbo version.

well shit

No clue. Guessing something like $1,500 - $3,000 to Baltimore.

the FD was sequential turbo...?

Ah - I must have misunderstood the difference between the 13B-RE and 13B-REW. The REW has twin sequential turbos (a pair of HT-15s ), while the RE in the Cosmo has two different sized s equential turbos (one HT-15 and one HT-10).

Ok, so round up, add cushion and say it’s 12, 500 to your door.
That’s a pretty sweet ride for 12, 500!

ah. so one is tuned for greater peak airflow, and the other for responsiveness. most likely.

I’ve got no idea. It might be that Mazda didn’t want the 13B-RE to have twin turbos for better economy (the Cosmo is a grand tourer), but with the FD it was all about power and speed.

What’s the alternative?

mazda reliability
i see no issues.
just horrible fuel & oil consumption being a rotary

Take the absolute worst idea you can think of...and then multiply that by ebola.
THIS IS OPPOSITE OF THAT.
I need to find $10,000 immediately. I wonder...a man can survive on one kidney, yes?
